Ms. Willis, a teacher at GES shares how planting a vegetable garden was a learning experience for her students.She writes: " My class was very excited about having a garden. My students picked out the seeds to plant. They chose to plant in their garden: tomatoes, carrots, lettuces, cucumbers, and sunflowers. First, they planted the seeds in seed starter pots. After the seeds started sprouting in the pots, then we put them in the ground. The vegetable garden is opportunity to teach science in a hands-on way. Our garden was born out of the needs to learn where food comes from. Also, they learned how living things like plants grow and change'.
"If you can expose them to the cool parts of plants or the cool things that are happening in nature and help them connect it to their life, they are fascinated by it!"

That was the message that elementary students at Madison County Central School received at the very popular character education assembly ... THE NED SHOW! The story of Ned promoted academic achievement and inspired students to become champions at school and in life. The performance was a learning experience that brought a whole lot of fun using student participation, yo-yo and magic tricks. His name is an acronym for:
